“Organic delivers”, this year’s motto of the world’s leading trade fair for organic consumer goods was also reflected in the growing number of exhibitors: 3792 from 110 countries presented themselves at this year’s Biofach in Nürnberg. SEKEM Initiative is among them already for many years. In 2020, 5 Egyptians made their way to snow-covered Nuremberg to organize and look after the SEKEM booth and join various meetings. For the first time, Sobhy El-Saadany, the longtime secretary of managing director Helmy Abouleish, joined the Biofach this year. “Sobhy was almost still a child when I first met him. He comes from a small village near the SEKEM farm and has made his way up from a cheesemaker to his current position. The fact that he is representing SEKEM today with us in Nuremberg is a very special highlight for me this year”, the SEKEM CEO happily expresses.
In addition to the product presentation, this, the potential unfolding of employees, was a focus topic for SEKEM at this year’s fair. The work on the new label “Economy of Love” met attracted a lot of interest. With this label, SEKEM wants to make visible that the economic production serves the people and not the other way around, that people serve the economic profit. However, this does not exclude economic success, which in turn is needed to be able to invest in the development of people. Therefore, reliable and fair cooperation is of great importance. In this context SEKEM has been able to hold many successful discussions with old and new partners, which will hopefully all contribute to a growing “economy of love”, so that once again it can be shown that Organic works and delivers.
