The Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA), in collaboration with the Economy of Love (EoL) , hosted the fourth edition of the Climate Heroes Forum on 28 September 2025 under the theme “The Role of the Economy of Love in Empowering Women and Driving Community Development.”
Held at Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development, the forum brought together policymakers, academics, environmental experts, and development practitioners to celebrate smallholder farmers pioneering biodynamic agriculture and sustainable carbon sequestration. This year’s edition particularly emphasized the essential role of women in strengthening rural communities and advancing sustainable development.
The discussions underscored the Egyptian government’s growing support for regenerative agriculture and women’s empowerment in alignment with the Economy of Love standard. Panel sessions explored how EoL enables women to become active agents of change by linking regenerative farming with access to carbon credits and fair market participation — empowering them economically while enhancing their social and cultural contributions.
Participants also highlighted holistic approaches such as health awareness initiatives and financial inclusion tools, including those presented by Do-Pay, which ensure equitable access to the benefits of regenerative agriculture.
In his keynote address, Mr. Helmy Abouleish, CEO of SEKEM Holding and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development, stated:
“The Economy of Love is a holistic vision where ecology, economy, culture, and social well-being converge. By equipping women and men alike with the tools to contribute to their communities, we are laying the foundation for a more sustainable and equitable future for Egypt.”

The event also featured inspiring contributions from international speakers who shared global perspectives on regenerative development, alongside moving testimonials from women farmers in Marsa Matrouh, showcasing their role in advancing sustainable livelihoods and community resilience.
During the ceremony, the forum recognized the “Climate Heroes” — farmers from across Egypt who have shown leadership in adopting EoL-certified practices. The Economy of Love standard contributes directly to Egypt’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 by reducing emissions, restoring soils, and building resilient rural communities.
The Climate Heroes Forum is part of a nationwide series organized by EBDA to honor farmers implementing the Economy of Love standard. What began with 400 farmers in 2022 has now expanded to over 34,000 practitioners adopting biodynamic methods and benefiting from carbon credits. This growing movement reflects EBDA’s continued efforts to scale up regenerative agriculture and strengthen the link between sustainable farming, women’s empowerment, and community development across Egypt.
