At the same time that Heliopolis University (HU) is launching two new faculties and receiving new students, the six-year-old educational entity bid farewell to its third batch of graduates. Around 150 graduates are now going to start a new phase in their life, aspiring to become the ambassadors of sustainable development.
In their elegant gowns, the Heliopolis University graduates gracefully entered the Ibrahim Abouleish Theater accompanied by loving smiles and claps of their family members and friends – a long-awaited day to celebrate their achievement with a remarkable end of a successful chapter in their lives. Helmy Abouleish, SEKEM’s CEO and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Heliopolis University inaugurated the ceremony by a warm speech: “We are happy and proud of you. We believe that we send you into the world as champions, who will contribute to a better future for Egypt by realizing human development and giving back to the community. That has been always our aim at Heliopolis University.”
Celebrating success
Congratulations to this step were also deeply expressed by the President of the Heliopolis University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousri Hashem. He advised the graduates to keep the vision of sustainable development in their minds, in order to tackle challenges and induce a real change. Besides, Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid El Zoheiry, the former president of Heliopolis University attended the ceremony and praised the graduates. Heartfelt speeches were also given by the Deans of the three faculties: Prof. Dr. Rasha El-Kholy, the Dean of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Gouda Kamel, Dean of Pharmacy and Drug Technology, and Dr. Omar Ramzy the Acting Dean of the Business and Economics Faculty.
Tears of Happiness
The former Heliopolis University students stepped to the stage one-by-one to receive their graduation certificates, while their parents’ shed some tears of happiness. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousri Hashem concluded the celebration by declaring love and gratitude to the HU-founder Ibrahim Abouleish. “This year we succeeded to launch the two new faculties of Organic Agriculture and Physical Therapy. Now we have five faculties that serve students from all over the world. But still there is a long way to go,” said the Heliopolis University President. “It has been the wish of Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish to establish more faculties, to cover all life aspects and to entrust many more to take over the mission of sustainable development, as you will already do now.”
