A delegation of members of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Bundestag traveled to Egypt and Jordan at the end of October. During the trip, the politicians from all major German parties also visited the SEKEM Farm. Uwe Kekeritz from the party Alliance 90/The Greens had proposed to visit the SEKEM initiative. During the meeting with SEKEM CEO Helmy Abouleish, Kekeritz emphasized Abouleish’s words on how different cultures are living, working and learning together in the SEKEM community for over 40 years now.
In Egypt, the German politicians also met with government officials and parliamentarians to discuss the current situation in the country. In addition, they visited German Development Cooperation projects and then traveled on to Jordan. The delegation was chaired by the chairman of the committee Peter Ramsauer (CSU).
