We are delighted to have been present at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 12, alongside the Egyptian Biodynamic Association (Demeter Egypt), Economy of Love (EoL) and Heliopolis University. Our partnership with NOW Partners and Future Economy Forum led to the establishment of a Blue Zone Pavilion for interactive presentations, in addition to organizing events in the Green Zone. Throughout the conference, our team of experts hosted daily “Solutions Dialogues” sessions at our pavilion, focusing on discussing our top-tier initiatives, including SEKEM’s “Joint Call for Organic and Climate Positive Agriculture” and “40,000 Farmers for a Regenerative Future in Egypt”.
Our Impact:
Our participation at COP28 UAE allowed us to showcase transformative solutions, with a specific emphasis on scaling biodynamic practices in collaboration with our partners. Some of the key highlights of our engagement at COP28 include:
- Advocating for our Joint Call for Organic and Climate-positive Agriculture with Future Economy Forum, urging for the easing of carbon credit scheme requirements and facilitating the shift towards climate-friendly agriculture.
- Collaborating with High-Level Climate Champions – Call to Action, to support the transformation of food systems and the establishment of global targets for climate, nature, and food crises.
- Participation in the CRFS Alliance Advocacy Framework, addressing integrated food and climate action and promoting regenerative agriculture.
- Recognition of our commitment to a regenerative future in the World Economic Forum Whitepaper: Social Innovation Partnerships for Climate Adaptation, which highlighted our “40,000 farmers creating a regenerative future in Egypt” initiative.
