Helmy Abouleish is going to attend for SEKEM Cradle to Cradle Congress in Lüneburg, Germany.
“Rethinking for a Positive Footprint” – this is one motto the second international Cradle to Cradle Congress (C2C Congress) plans to discuss during its event on 31 October.
On this day, many protagonists from economic organisations, the sciences, education, politics, and society will gather in Lüneburg to discuss perspectives for a world facing the most urgent challenges of the future. The congress aims to foster development of concrete ideas for practical solutions. This year’s main topic is “waste is a nutrient”.
Cradle-to-Cradle and Nutrition
Helmy Abouleish, CEO of the SEKEM Group, will attend the congress and introduce participants to his understanding of sustainable agriculture in Egypt. Specifically, he will focus on food security, which is a key challenge the country will be facing in the coming decades. Together with Bärbel Diekmann (President of German World Hunger Aid), Prof. Dr. Martin Kaupenjohann (professor of pedology, Technical University Berlin) and Dr. Monika Griefahn (Chairwoman C2C e.V., minister a.D., co-founder Greenpeace Germany), Helmy Abouleish will talk about his experiences from SEKEM, an initiative that aims to build a community with a positive footprint.
The congress will be held under the patronage of the German Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Barbara Hendricks, and Prof. Dr. Sascha Spoun, President of Leuphana University Lüneburg. Helmy Abouleish is member of the Cradle to Cradle e.V. advisory committee and has been supporting the association since its beginnings in 2012.
