Online Seminar on Sustainable Agriculture for Climate Change – Roadmap for COP27.

On Monday, 7th of March, SEKEM invites for on Online Seminar on Sustainable Agriculture for Climate Change – Roadmap for COP27. The international climate change conference 2022 will be held in the Egyptian town of Sharm El-Sheik this year.

Whether in Egypt, Germany, Europe or worldwide – it is predicted that the currently established climate goals are unlikely to be achieved. However, according to international experts, there are in fact more than enough ways to create a climate-neutral world.

With more than 40 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, SEKEM is convinced that a change in the agricultural sector alone could bring us quite close to the international climate objectives.

The UN climate champion Helmy Abouleish has repeatedly pointed out how organic and biodynamic agriculture specifically helps to reduce global warming. In addition to improve the soil, organic composting also helps to save water and bind CO2 in the soil. But Helmy Abouleish also emphasizes, “that there can only be sustainable adaption to climate change if development is promoted holistically – ecology, economy, society and culture equally.”

Helmy Abouleish, Thoraya Saada and Justus Harm will present the topic and outline how the agricultural model of SEKEM can be upscaled in Egypt and the world to slow down climate change.
