Dear reader,
For children, education is the key to a better life. It gives children the chance to further develop and to shape their own future.

However, in Egypt, not many children have the chance to receive a good education. After six years of schooling, 80 percent of all children can neither read nor write.
|
In addition, poorly paid teachers work shifts at public schools. Besides school, many of them work elsewhere in order to be able to support their own families. Thus, they can hardly do justice to the often more than 80 children in their class.
|
The situation is further exacerbated by the rapid growth of the Egyptian population. In the big cities, there are few private alternatives to public schools, but in rural areas there are none.
|
From the very beginning, SEKEM has been committed to providing sustainable support for the people and thus helping the entire country. Children's education has always been a key factor in doing so. Now we want to take the next step together with you by founding another SEKEM School in the Western Desert. In order to realise this great project for the children, many hands are needed to tackle the work and many shoulders to carry the burden together.
