Dear reader,
We would like to invite you to join our Online Seminar on Monday, the 29th of November!
This time we will talk with you about the relevance of the SEKEM Vision Goals for a system change - including examples of other sustainable institutions like GLS Bank.
In 2017 SEKEM’s founder Ibrahim Abouleish passed away, exactly 40 years after he founded the SEKEM Initiative. SEKEM community continues to realize his vision of holistic sustainable development and transformation in the areas of environment, culture, social affairs and economy. Out of the inspirations and impulses that guided Ibrahim Abouleish to realize his vision, SEKEM community has developed a vision for the next 40 years – similarly innovative and ambitious – for a sustainable future as the founder exemplified.
Helmy Abouleish will report on the SEKEM vision goals and how SEKEM implements and promotes them for a sustainable change in Egypt.
Florian Mende, who was in SEKEM 2018/2019 and works now for GLS Bank, will tell us what vision GLS Bank has for a sustainable future and how they are actively working on it.
Here you will find some main informations about the SEKEM vision goals beforehand:
Looking forward to seeing many of you and many greetings from Egypt,

SEKEM and GLS Bank:
SEKEM and GLS Bank connects a long cooperation and friendship.
The first credit which benefited SEKEM was granted by the GLS bank in 1981. The SEKEM supporters, Frieda Gögler and Elfriede Werner, then thereby co-financed the purchase of 40 brown cattle and their transport from the Allgäu region in Germany to SEKEM. Since then, the community bank has been supporting many of SEKEMs social and cultural activities – the SEKEM school and the SEKEM Friends Associations, for example.
